What are the prettiest kinds of flowers?

Posted on 04-04-2017

Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it’s difficult to say which flower is the prettiest. Here is a list of the meanings of the five most popular flower names that you can teach to your preschool child.

Daisies

Daisies have multiple meanings, but the most generally accepted meanings are innocence, purity, and new beginnings. The daisy is the perfect picture of spring time! Daisies most naturally grow in the northwestern parts of the United States, but you can plant and grow them easily in your own backyard!

Sunflowers

Adoration and loyalty are two meanings that the sunflower carries. These flowers are not only tall and beautiful as they grow up toward the sun, but they also produce sunflower seeds for birds and people to eat. The sunflower is commonly grown all through North America, and you can plant them in your own backyard to invite all sorts of birds to come and visit.

Roses

Roses grow on bushes, and they are probably the most loved flower of all. Roses mean different things depending on the color given. Red roses mean “I love you,” pink ones mean “thank you,” and yellow roses show joy, friendship, and gladness. Planting roses is a little bit more difficult than the previous flowers mentioned, but once planted, the roses come back year after year.

Carnations

Like the rose, carnations have multiple meanings depending on the color, but they most often represent the love of a mother. They are the official flower that is worn by mothers on Mother’s Day. Carnations are most often grown in the Mediterranean and grow in bushy clumps in deep soil. If you’re up for a challenge, try to grow these in your flower bed! Their gorgeous colors will be a great addition to your garden.
